Warehouse tags work only when the physical label and the inventory record use the same identifier. Define the asset, scanning method, surface and data file before choosing a size.
What will the tag identify?
Separate reusable assets and fixed storage locations from disposable stock labels. Record the object type, expected service period and where staff need to see or scan the tag.
Should the code be a barcode, QR code or serial number?
Use the code already supported by the warehouse workflow. A barcode suits a defined scanner process, a QR code can open a web record, and a printed serial number gives staff a readable fallback.
Which material fits the location?
Polyester is a low-profile starting point for clean indoor surfaces. Anodized aluminum gives a metal face and includes adhesive or mechanical mounting choices in this Category. Confirm cleaning, impact and exposure on the quote.
How large should the tag be?
Base the size on code density, scanner distance, human-readable text and the available flat area. Leave space around the code and keep it clear of edges, seams and moving parts.
How will it attach?
Adhesive needs a clean contact area. Mounting holes, screws or rivets need an approved location and hole pattern. Test powder coat, texture, oil exposure and low-energy plastics before a full run.
How should variable data be supplied?
Use one spreadsheet row per tag. Keep asset ID, barcode value, QR destination and visible text in separate columns, preserve leading zeros and identify any number ranges that must not be used.
When is a sample test needed?
Test when the surface is curved, textured, coated, oily, repeatedly cleaned or exposed to condensation. Use the actual warehouse surface and cleaning method, not a substitute panel.
What belongs in the RFQ?
Send the asset or location type, tag size, quantity, code format, data file, surface photo, mounting preference and any cleaning or exposure conditions.
