Anodized Aluminum tag for QR code tracking — from $0.54/pc. A 0.5 x 0.5 in (13×13 mm) square, 8 mil anodized aluminum (0.20 mm), marked with your custom text, logo, barcode, QR code or serial numbers. The square format suits compact equipment faces and centered logos or QR codes. The print sits below the sealed anodic layer, so abrasion, UV and most chemicals wear the surface, not your barcode or serial number.

Applications — where to use

This Anodized Aluminum tag at 8 mil anodized aluminum (0.20 mm) is built for:

  • General-purpose asset identification: used on office assets, facility equipment and mixed inventory in everyday indoor handling and light-duty conditions.
  • QR code tracking: used on assets linked to records, manuals or service pages in QR-scan tracking workflows.
  • IT & office equipment: used on computers, monitors, servers and office equipment in clean indoor office and IT environments.
  • Fixed asset tracking: used on capital assets, furniture and facility equipment in long-term fixed-asset registers and audits.

Is this the right size? At 0.25 in² (1.61 cm²) of marking face this is a small tag — the size we quote most often for hand tools, valves, fittings and instrument bodies. It holds about 4 characters on a line, which puts it in serial-and-text territory rather than scannable-symbol territory. It fastens through a punched hole to your drawing, so it does not depend on surface preparation.

Where it is the wrong choice: sustained heat above 150 °C, or strong alkaline washdown — caustic cleaners attack the anodic layer that is protecting the printed data. Move to an etched metal plate for either. See stainless steel asset tags for that case.

Specification checkpoint for QR-AL8-AL-S-13x13-0.20

  • QR-AL8-AL-S-13x13-0.20 is a 0.5 x 0.5 in square in Anodized Aluminum, finished at 0.20 mm.
  • QR-AL8-AL-S-13x13-0.20 provides 0.25 in² (1.61 cm²) of marking face. about 4 small, readable characters; supports multiple lines, a logo and a barcode/QR
  • QR-AL8-AL-S-13x13-0.20 code fit is recorded as follows: QR: is small for QR codes - serial text is recommended at this size 1D barcode: is short for a 1D barcode - a QR code or stacked code is better.
  • QR-AL8-AL-S-13x13-0.20 is listed at $1.47/pc for 100 pieces and $0.54/pc for 1000 pieces. The written quote confirms its final price.
  • QR-AL8-AL-S-13x13-0.20 uses about 88 g of tag material per 1,000 pieces before liner and packaging. QR-AL8-AL-S-13x13-0.20 proof check: Confirm hole count, diameter, centre spacing and artwork clearance on the proof.

Area and weight are calculated from the nominal dimensions and 0.20 mm substrate thickness; weight is the tag material only and excludes adhesive liner or packaging. Material figures are the values this material class is specified to rather than a lot-specific test result; etch depth, anodic layer and hole geometry are our standard process settings. FAQ

Is a 0.5 x 0.5 in tag big enough for our asset numbers?

About 4 small, readable characters; supports multiple lines, a logo and a barcode/QR. The smallest reliably readable character height is 0.070 in (1.8 mm) high, marked sub-surface printed across 0.25 in² (1.61 cm²) of tag face. Send your exact wording or data file and we lay it out on a free digital proof before production.

Can I put a QR code on a 0.5 x 0.5 in tag?

This size is small for QR codes: a 2D code needs more face area than the 0.25 in² leaves once the quiet zone around it is allowed for. Custom text and sequential serial numbers still mark cleanly. If you need a QR code, choose a larger tag and we will confirm the layout on the proof.

What is the reference price for a 0.5 x 0.5 in Anodized Aluminum tag?

The listed reference price is $0.54/pc at 1000 pieces, rising to $1.47/pc at the 100-piece minimum — $535.50 for the 1000-piece run. Standard tiers are 100 / 300 / 500 / 1000 pieces. Custom options typically change the unit price by about US$0.30-US$0.60 per piece. The written quote confirms the final specification and price; freight is quoted separately.

Why is the reference price higher than the polyester version of the same tag?

The listed 500-piece reference price is $0.56/pc for polyester and $0.77/pc for this material. It is rated to 150 °C continuous where this one holds 150 °C. Use the performance requirements to choose the material. Custom options typically change the unit price by about US$0.30-US$0.60 per piece, and the written quote confirms the final price.

How thick is this tag, and what does a 1,000-piece run weigh?

8 mil anodized aluminum — 0.20 mm at the substrate. Each 0.5 x 0.5 in tag weighs about 0.09 g, so 1,000 pieces come to roughly 88 g of material — useful when you are estimating freight. Calculated from the nominal dimensions and substrate density; adhesive liner and packaging are extra.

Do the mounting holes come punched, or do we drill them?

Adhesive; Mounting holes. Holes are punched here to your layout — tell us single or double, and we position them on the proof so they clear your text.

Can the printing wear off an anodized aluminum tag?

Not by abrasion — the image is printed into the open pores of the aluminum and then sealed under an 8–13 µm Type II sulphuric anodic layer, so what a hand, a hose or a pallet corner touches is the oxide, not the ink. That layer is also what makes it UV-stable outdoors, and it is specified to 336 h neutral salt spray (ASTM B117, MIL-A-8625). Keep it under 150 °C and off strong alkaline cleaners, which attack the anodize itself.

How long does production take for 0.5 x 0.5 in tags?

5-8 business days after proof approval. Nothing is cut or marked before sign-off, so the clock starts at approval, not at order. We scan-test coded batches, then ship with tracking.

How this order runs

  1. Quote A reply usually within one business day.
  2. Free proof Nothing is produced until you approve it.
  3. Production 5-8 business days after proof approval.
  4. Tracked shipping Tracking reference and invoice on dispatch.
